A Walk Around Town

I take a walk most afternoons. On a typical day, here is what I see. First, I walk down the sidewalk towards the park...

up the hill through the park towards the upper part of town...

down the street towards the entrance to the jebel (the small, sandy mountain overlooking town)...

and to the path and the stairs leading up the jebel (you can see where the irrigation stops.)

Then it's up the path and these steps...

Along the way up the jebel, here are some of the things I see:

At the top, there's a pretty view of our tiny hamlet in the desert. Note that the town is built around another, smaller jebel...

After surveying the town for a few minutes, I often continue walking on the road around behind the jebel...

The sky is blue, with some wispy clouds...

and the desert stretches out to the horizon...

This time of year is cool--about 65 or 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the afternoon, so it's great to walk at sunset...

When the temperatures start heating up in the spring, I may have to walk in the mornings instead, and watch the sunrise.
